I’m speaking at this event on September 24 in Toronto. As the event invitation explains, “Writers and content creators tell stories, and the world can’t get enough good storytelling. The trick is to get paid fairly, or to get paid at all.” I’ll be on a panel with Ann Douglas, who recently quit her Toronto Star column over the paper’s contract. I’ll be discussing findings from my research on Canadian freelance journalists and discuss some of the ways freelancers are coming together to improve their working conditions.
